"The Homework Club and A+ Book Club are in desperate need of additional funding”

In order for the Timmins Learning Centre (TLC) to maintain the Homework Club Program; additional funding is required. We are asking businesses and individuals to contribute whatever they can, so that TLC can continue to offer this much needed service to children in grades 1-8.

The Homework Club enables children in our area to move on academically with confidence. By becoming an A+ Supporter, you will make a difference in a child’s life. Many children experience mild to extreme learning difficulties in school. Whether these difficulties are short term or long term, 1-1 tutoring is a proven, effective method to help these children succeed. Presently, 35% of the population in Timmins has less than a grade 9 education, and the current high school dropout rate is more than 30%. Many parents lack the skills and education to assist their children with homework. Yet all children should have the opportunity to become confident adults able to contribute to the growth and the economy of our country. By becoming an A+ Supporter you will be helping a child achieve that goal.

All donors will be recognized as valuable partners by having their names added to our A+ Supporter’s Wall of Recognition.

The total cost for a child in our program is $500 per year. This amount covers tutoring sessions, books, learning materials, computer programs, volunteer recruitment and training, workshops for parents, and administrative charges.
